Berkeley, CA: Protest at new UC Berkeley BP funded research site

35+ people protested at the new UC Berkeley BP site under construction for a horrific new "research facility" for BP's biotech, agrofuel work. UC took $500 million to sell its scientific soul to BP in 2007.) This community speakout - outraged about BP and governmental handling of the Gulf eco-disaster - was hosted by World Can't Wait, Progressive Democrats of America, and community residents. Also pointing out how urgent it is that UC step back from hosting this criminal corporate institute.  People left visual messages, pictures, oil-stained toy wildlife animals, black drapings on the fence all along Shattuck.  Last night at 10 it was all still up, with people walking by stopping to read and talk. Photos by Jay, www.redstarphoto.net Click 'Read More' for complete photo set

  1. What a great protest! Could you put the speeches online. It would be great to hear or read what everyone said
